What is compassion? What does it mean to have compassion? What does a compassionate city look like? What will it take for Washington to become the most compassionate city in the world?

These are some of the many questions and issues that this blog project will explore. Each week, Washington-area thought leaders who devote their lives to exploring these issues from the pulpit, the academy, the social services, business and public administration, will lead an intelligent, informed and respectful conversation on issues of poverty and the role of compassion in urban transformation.
