The 125th Anniversary Campaign for Compassion
Raising awareness of and support for Washington's poor and forgotten.
Mission Launches Campaign for Compassion August 18, 2009 Central Union Mission recently unveiled its 125th Anniversary Campaign for Compassion, a campaign to encourage public service and support for Washington's poor, homeless, hungry, addicted and friendless. The Mission is hosting four major campaign initiatives: a Sign of Hope Exhibition that runs through January 10th, a Gala Dinner and Silent Auction Reception on December 5th, the Annual Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon, and a Playback Theatre Performance. Additionally, the campaign includes two interactive web-based features. The first is the 125 Years, 125 Stories Project--an online catalogue that shares personal accounts of those whose lives have been touched by the Mission throughout its rich history in the Distict. Second, the Mission will pose thoughtful questions and engage in meaningful dialogue about addressing issues of poverty and homelessness more faithfully, on its web blog Compassion: A Conversation. |
