With a DAF, charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses make an irrevocable gift to a public charity that sponsors a donor-advised fund program and may take an immediate tax deduction. Donors can then recommend grants over time to IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) public charities. DAFs also allow donors to approach their charitable giving thoughtfully by involving other family members or colleagues in their philanthropic decisions. Most DAFs accept donations of long-term appreciated securities and other assets, and donors can advise how the funds are invested, which could potentially allow tax-free growth, and could result in more money for your charity.
Central Union Mission partners with some of the largest DAF sponsor organizations and the philanthropic services such as BNY Mellon, Fidelity Charitable and Schwab Charitable through DAF-Direct.
Grants made to Central Union Mission can be made at any time and any amount from your DAF fund and you can designate what that grant is to be applied to.
Central Union Mission is a faith-based nonprofit organization and the oldest private social service agency in Washington, DC. In addition to its emergency shelter, and their Christ-centered transformation and workforce development program, the Mission provides more than 60,000 bed-nights each year, assists veterans, and helps addicts overcome their addictions. And it doesn’t stop there, the Mission also operates a food and clothing distribution center for over 4,000 people each month and runs a camp for under-privileged children.
