Dear Mission Partner,
I’m writing to ask for your help. Twenty-four men need your support in renovating a decent place for them to live while they work to become independent contributing members of the community.
Here’s the story: As you know, the Mission serves the needs of homeless people and families experiencing poverty across the Washington, DC, area. One of the unique aspects of our ministry is that we not only provide for immediate needs like food and shelter, but we are working to solve homelessness through our Restoration & Transformation Program.
This program works on every aspect of a man’s life: mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and vocational. After homeless men get their addictions under control, become whole and gain employment through our Restoration & Transformation Program, we need to move them to their first step toward independence, our Lambert Transition Home.
The Lambert Transition Home is the Mission’s nearly 100-year-old apartment building that houses up to 24 men who are recovered and making their way back to leading productive lives. The Lambert Home provides practical and mentored experience in navigating the sometimes challenging aspects of being responsible for yourself.
However, the Home currently is in need of repairs. The roof leaks and other repairs are needed, many of the appliances do not work and it lacks furniture. We estimate that getting the home back to a respectable condition would cost $350,000.
I need your help with this incredibly important component of our transformation program. It’s a crucial tool in preventing recovery relapses, and it makes a huge difference in the lives of formerly homeless men.
This holiday season is a blessing for many of us, with family, friends, a warm home and gifts exchanged between those we love. Will you help me with this project so that others can feel the blessing of the season as well?
Any amount you can contribute will be forever appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you, and God bless!
Sincerely,
Central Union Mission Website
