Donating Items to Central Union Mission

All donations of clothing, food, sanitizing items and other gift-in-kind donations are accepted at the Mission’s Comprehensive Family Resource Center. Drop-Off Details

The Mission’s Comprehensive Family Resource Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28 & Friday, Nov. 29 for Thanksgiving;    Friday, December 6 for a Staff Christmas Party;    Tuesday December 24 thru Thursday, December 26 for Christmas;    Wednesday, January 1 for New Year’s Day

There are many non-monetary ways to support our work. Your donation of in-kind gifts and services is an essential part of our ability to provide for those we serve.

Acceptable items:

  • Computers (All electronics must be fully functional. Flat screen monitors, only)
  • General Household Furnishings (functioning coffee makers; fans; plates/silverware; microwaves)
  • Cooking Utensils (pots/pans; measuring cups; spatula; functioning microwaves)
  • Mini-refrigerator (must function properly)
  • Clothing, accessories and shoes for men, women and children (must be clean and undamaged)
  • Towels
  • Bed linens/comforter (must be clean and undamaged)
  • Tablecloths/table runners
  • Toiletries of any size (unused)
  • School/Office supplies
  • Baby clothes, diapers, strollers, car seats, unused toiletries.
  • Children’s toys
  • TVs (Functioning HDTV, only. Old “tube” televisions will NOT be accepted)

Food Donations:

Donations of non-perishable food, canned items, fresh fruits and vegetables, protein and other food items, may be donated at the Comprehensive Family Resource Center. Prepared or ready-to- serve food items in serving quantities of 300 or more, may also be donated at the Comprehensive Family Resource Center. The Comprehensive Family Resource Center is located at 3194 Bladensburg Rd. NE, Suite B, Washington, DC 20018. Donations may be dropped off Monday through Friday between 9:00 am – 3:30 pm. *Please note that the Comprehensive Family Resource Center is closed on the weekends, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and all Federal Holidays.

Prepared or ready-to-serve food donations:

Donations of prepared, ready-to-serve food, in serving quantities of 300 or less, may be donated at our emergency shelter located at 65 Massachusetts Ave, NW, between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm any day of the week. If you have any questions or require additional information about prepared food donations, please call 202-745-7118 ext. 233 to speak with Rick Snyder, Head of Food Services or email rsnyder@missiondc.org.

Not Accepted:

  • Furniture
  • Old TVs (non-HDTV)
  • Non-working electronics
  • Books
  • VHS Tapes / DVD movies
  • Anything missing parts, etc

*Central Union Mission reserves the right to refuse a donation.

*All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. A receipt will be provided for your records. Central Union Mission will not appraise or declare the value or tax value of any donations.
