BBQ Fit for VIPs, but Homeless Men are the Guests!

Washington, DC—July 22, 2016—Some of the District’s most talented chefs will lend their skills to serve a mostly forgotten population–homeless men—on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 6:00 pm in the Gales School shelter’s dining hall.
Celebrity Chef Rock Harper, Hell’s Kitchen winner and president of RockSolid Creative Food Group, Mitsitam Native Foods Café Executive Chef Jerome Grant, and Capitol Hill Crab Cakes owner Chef Horatio Davis are volunteering to prepare rib-stickin’ BBQ for the evening’s Overnight Guests and Mission program students.

According to Chef Rock Harper, Hell’s Kitchen winner and president of RockSolid Creative Food Group, “It’s not easy turning your life around. We’re just glad we can show these guys we’re proud of the hard work they’re doing.” As well as donating their time, the chefs also donate prime ingredients to serve 150 diners.
Central Union Mission Executive Director David Treadwell commented, “We’re blown away by their generosity. Our guests enjoy a good meal, but they especially appreciate the care and talent that these chefs are sharing.”

Central Union Mission is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit with its homeless shelter located at 65 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001.
