of Serving the Poor and Homeless
Washington, DC — April 10, 2024 — Central Union Mission, the oldest private social service agency in Washington, DC, is poised to celebrate a monumental milestone – 140 years of transforming lives and building futures. On Thursday, April 11, a special gala event will be held at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, VA, to commemorate this historic occasion.
“What humbly began in 1884 with a union of churches coming together under the banner of Christ has today grown into a world-class organization providing immediate care, long-term change, and the opportunity to build a future,” said Mission President & CEO, Joe Mettimano.
The gala evening promises to be a reflection on the Mission’s remarkable journey, honoring its past, present, and future, to the glory of God. Attendees will be treated to highlights of transformational ministry and will have the opportunity to remember those whose contributions have been instrumental in supporting the needs of the city’s homeless and hurting individuals. An important announcement will be made about the Mission’s future
