Central Union Mission Partners with Feed the Children to bring No Hunger Holidays to 400 Washington, D.C. Families
Washington, DC—November 18, 2021—Central Union Mission is partnering with Feed the Children to bring No Hunger Holidays to 400 local families this holiday season.
The community distribution event will be held Thursday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Family Ministry Center located at 3194B- Bladensburg Rd, NE. During the event, each family, pre-identified by Central Union Mission, will receive a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of essential personal care items, and also a box of Avon products.
“Central Union Mission is proud to partner with Feed the Children as we work to meet the needs of hungry families in our community this holiday season,” said Joe Mettimano, Central Union Mission’s President & CEO. “We’re grateful for this partnership and the ability to provide hundreds of neighbors with hope and resources.”
As the holiday season approaches, the 13% of Washington, DC residents who are living below the poverty line, find themselves exhausted and without essential resources. This year has been difficult for the most vulnerable families who have faced widespread hardship and uncertainty because of the pandemic’s far-reaching effects.
Feed the Children, a leading nonprofit focused on alleviating childhood hunger, is holding its annual No Hunger Holidays campaign to help children, parents and caregivers fill the gap during this challenging time. The organization plans to deliver two million meals in November and December to families who need them.
“We believe that no child should go to bed hungry, especially during a time full of warmth, love and sharing,” said Travis Arnold, Feed the Children President and CEO. “But the reality is, millions of children face this hardship every day. Thanks to Central Union Mission, we are able to help these families rest a little easier knowing they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.”
