Central Union Mission to Team Up with Amazon and
One Warm Coat to Distribute Critical Supplies
to Washington, DC, Residents

Washington, DC—October 6, 2022—Central Union Mission continues to lead the effort to support those experiencing poverty and homelessness in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. As fall arrives and temperatures begin to drop, the need for warm coats and food is more prevalent than ever for people living at or below the poverty line, struggling to maintain basic necessities. Central Union Mission is aware of the needs of our neighbors and is happy to team up with Amazon and One Warm Coat to support 300 people with coats and food assistance.

Central Union Mission is one of One Warm Coat’s 1,450 non-profit partners who were chosen to participate in this initiative. “Since 1992, One Warm Coat has worked with volunteers, donors, and sponsors to share warmth with 7.3 million children and adults across the U.S., providing coats without cost or discrimination through our network of non-profit partners,” said Beth Amodio, President and CEO of One Warm Coat.

In addition to free coats, recipients will also receive coupons that can be used when making purchases with SNAP EBT benefits on Amazon.com and Amazon Fresh.

Our ultimate goal is to increase food access, especially in urban areas, and ensure that residents are aware of the convenient, affordably priced grocery options Amazon makes available in their communities,” said Nancy Dalton, Head of Marketing and Community Partnerships/Consumables at Amazon. “We are grateful to join forces with One Warm Coat and Central Union Mission at a time when many Americans are struggling to afford basic necessities.”
