Washington, DC—September 12, 2018—67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela, a South African organization with membership in the DC area that coordinates the creating and distribution of blankets, has selected Central Union Mission as one of its beneficiaries this fall. At a ceremony at the Mission men’s shelter on September 12, local 67 Blankets representatives will be presenting hand-knitted and –crocheted blankets made from donated wool by talented volunteers. 67 Blankets shows its commitment to helping our neighbors experiencing homelessness by providing the dignity and comfort of a warm blanket. According to Mission Executive Director Joe Mettimano, “We’re grateful for the care these blankets represent and for the generous people who made them.” Media are invited to attend the ceremony at 65 Massachusetts Ave., NW, starting at 11:30 am. |
