We Just Might Save Your Life!
Health Fair offers free testing.

WHAT:     The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) is sponsoring a Community Breakfast and Health Fair at Central Union Mission with a 7:00 am program featuring remarks from CBCF President and CEO Shuanise Washington. Guests will enjoy a performance by the Sears Holdings Corporation Associate Gospel Choir.

Breakfast is served and program presented at 7:00 am, and the Health Fair runs from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Media are invited to this community event at 65 Massachusetts Ave., NW. Set-up begins at 5:00 am.

We expect to serve 300 from our community—including neighbors experiencing homelessness without health care—for a nutritious breakfast, gifts and free health testing. Food is provided by Safeway, and free flu shots are donated by Walgreens.

WHEN:    September 13, 2018, with activity from 5:00 am to 10:30 am.

WHERE:  Central Union Mission shelter (65 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001)

WHO:       Services and care providers onsite will include:

Barbers from Perfection Mobile Haircare
Prostate Education from Howard University Cancer Center
Glaucoma Screenings by Prevention of Blindness Society
Blood Pressure and Diabetes tests from Unity Health Care
Kidney Function tests from America Kidney Fund
Massage Therapy by MBK Massage Therapy
Flu Shots from Walgreens
Vision Screenings by Glaucoma Research Foundation

WHY:     Central Union Mission is grateful for the organizations donating their time and expertise and for the Congressional Black Congress Foundation for taking the initiative. These services are an ideal opportunity to help people in ways they can’t help themselves. For example, a high blood pressure warning today will prevent needless damage and suffering.
