Mission Muffins Trailer Reopening
Critical Job Training Resumes

WHAT: Like many small businesses in Washington, DC, the Mission Muffins food trailer shut down due to COVID-19, but the trailer reopened this week and this important aspect of our job training program for homeless men will resume.
Mission Muffins is one of Central Union Mission’s job training program initiatives that trains homeless men to learn a new trade or enhance existing skill sets while working on the job. It includes apprenticeships that are internal or external to the Mission and placement with partnership employers.

;

WHERE: In front of Central Union Mission men’s shelter, 65 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20001 at the Mission Muffins trailer.

WHO: Community members, stakeholders, Mission staff and shelter guests are all welcome. The Mission guests who are living at the Mission while participating in the Workforce Development & Education Program.

WHY: Street traffic in the area is increasing as businesses are reopening, and people are returning to work post-COVID-19. According to Mission President & CEO Joe Mettimano, “People are heading back into the office, and more and more people are settling into this new normal. It seems like the perfect time to reopen the Mission Muffins trailer and reintroduce this aspect of the Workforce Development program into the rehabilitation work we do in the area of training and job placement. Job skills and placement are a critical part of our solution to addressing homelessness.”
